The US-Ireland Alliance has announced that Irish actor Dónall Ó Héalai will be honored at the Oscar Wilde Awards with the Wilde Card Award, which is regularly presented to up-and-coming talent. The Alliance previously announced that Academy Award winning writer-director-producer Adam McKay will be one of the honorees at the event which is to be held on March 24, 2022, at Bad Robot in Santa Monica.
Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2020, Dónall Ó Héalai grew up in Galway, Ireland. He is best known for his critically acclaimed performance in the award-winning, period drama, ARRACHT (Monster). The Irish language film earned Dónall a nomination for best Lead Actor at the 2020 Irish Film and Television Awards. ARRACHT has recently been optioned by Smuggler and Kingsgate Films. Dónall is a recipient of the Aer Lingus Discovery Award from the Dublin International Film Festival and a Rising Talent Award from Irish Screen America. He may currently be seen in FOSCADH (Shelter), Ireland’s entry for the Best International Feature Film (formerly Best Foreign Language category) for the upcoming 94th annual Academy Awards. The film is an adaptation of the Irish novel, The Thing about December, by Donal Ryan. Dónall plays the lead role of John Cunliffe. The film won the Best Irish First Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh last summer and is currently playing on the international festival circuit. Dónall is presently filming the television series North Sea Connection, produced by Subotica, Mopar Studios and Screen Ireland, and to be distributed by A&E Networks International. He is also preparing for the boxing feature film CLINCH, which begins pre-production in 2022.
